Silicon Valley Engineering Council's annual Open House features Networking with refreshments and a Biotech panel discussion, including engineering's role in healthcare futures.
The population in the United States and many Western countries is aging. The cost for developing and using healthcare is rising so much that one wonders if it is sustainable. New ways of thinking are needed for development. Engineers and scientists play a critical role in these fields. Christin Glorioso, MD, PhD - CEO & Co-Founder, NeuroAge Therapeutics
Christin Glorioso, MD is a physician, neuroscientist, and serial entrepreneur with expertise in AI and computational modeling. I created the #1 US COVID case prediction model out of 104 global teams from top institutions and companies in the XPRIZE Pandemic Response Challenge. I have 20 years of research experience pioneering aging clocks in the human brain, which forms the basis of my longevity techbio startup, NeuroAge Therapeutics. NeuroAge is an alumni of the Berkeley SkyDeck Accelerator, winner of the National Institute on Aging Startup Challenge, an MBC BioLabs Golden ticket sponsored by AbbVie, and the Stanford Longevity Company Competition. I am passionate about community building and wear the additional hat of Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit, Longevity Global, which connects longevity researchers, investors, and entrepreneurs in the SF Bay Area, NYC, San Diego, Boston, Miami, Switzerland, the UAE, and expanding.
Lesley Telford, QA Manager - TauTona Group
Lesley Telford has focused her career on engineering in the healthcare field. Beginning at Abbott Vascular, after earning a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, she joined TauTona Group in Redwood City over eight years ago. She is currently the Quality Assurance Manager for this biotech incubator. Telford is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), serving as a leader both locally and internationally, and was recognized by SWE as an Outstanding Collegiate Member in 2010.
Chris Danek, PhD, MBA - Founder and CEO Bessel
Chris Danek is a medtech builder and strategist who believes that to deliver breakthrough impact, teams must build to scale. As the CEO of Bessel and creator of proprietary Bessel frameworks for startups and development teams, Chris helps teams innovate with speed, integrity, and clarity. He led the development of the first FDA-approved interventional treatment for asthma (Asthmatx/Boston Scientific), co-founded AtheroMed (developer of the Phoenix Atherectomy System, later acquired by Philips), and has guided many teams through critical phases of product development, fundraising, and go-to-market readiness.
